Crane ESD's Marcos Moore Named 2024 ASBA Advocate of the Year
YUMA, AZ – The Arizona School Boards Association (ASBA) is thrilled to announce that Mr. Marcos Moore, a distinguished member of the Crane Elementary School District’s Governing Board, has been named the recipient of the 2024 ASBA Advocate of the Year Award.
This prestigious award honors individuals who have demonstrated unwavering dedication to public education advocacy at both the local and state levels. Moore’s four years of service on the governing board, where he has held roles as Governing Board Clerk and President, have been marked by his passionate commitment to improving educational opportunities for students across Arizona.
A tireless advocate for educational equity, student engagement and adequate funding, Moore has consistently championed initiatives that make a profound impact in the Crane community and beyond. His passion for legislative advocacy is particularly commendable, as he frequently meets with state legislators in Phoenix to ensure that student needs remain a top priority in policy decisions.
“Mr. Moore’s inclusive leadership and his ability to collaborate with diverse groups of stakeholders are what set him apart,” said Chris Kotterman, Director of Governmental Relations for ASBA. “His advocacy efforts reflect a deep understanding of the importance of representation and equity in education.”
One of Moore’s notable accomplishments was his participation in the formation of a committee to review Arizona’s Title 15 statutes under the direction of Senator Bennett. His work in providing testimony before legislative committees played a crucial role in modernizing laws to better serve the state’s schools and ensure greater educational access for all students.
Moore’s advocacy also extends to legal efforts, as he has shown steadfast support for the Crane district in an ongoing capital funding lawsuit, actively attending the trial and demonstrating his commitment to securing equitable funding for Arizona school districts.
ASBA is proud to honor Mr. Marcos Moore as the 2024 Advocate of the Year. His contributions to public education, both through legislative advocacy and his service to the Crane Elementary School District, have earned him this well-deserved recognition.
